The works in Birdview look at the world from above. Working from bird's eye view images, van den Hoevel creates motifs that appear smaller, more insignificant and powerless. Buildings, objects as well as landscapes are minimized so that the eye is offered the chance to perceive a much larger and emotional scope of abstraction. In this way, Birdview presents distinctive collages with the layering and mixing of different materials, including natural resources, that constitute her current practice.
