In an era of new worlds like the metaverse, we experience almost infinite dimensions: life, space, art and the universe are constantly changing. In Metamorphosis, van den Hoevel focuses on the processes and factors that lead to this change. In this series, each work creates new dimensions that go beyond the canvas through metamorphosis into sculpture. The artist’s running motif of birds-eye-view imagery and layering is transferred into tangible, three-dimensional bodies using a specially developed casting technique that allows the viewer to grasp these different layers not only frontally, but from all sides.
